East Cleveland's Forest Hill Ave. Neighborhood Surveyed
The neighborhood consists largely of single-family houses that were built at or shortly after the turn of the last century. these are houses of architectural distinction in many cases and were home to middle and upper middle class families of the time. The western end tends to be older and less distinguished while the area to the east has some of the larger and more architecturally intact examples.
The neighborhood integrated in the period after World War II and sections remain largely intact and fairly well preserved while other areas feature abandoned houses and vacant lots. It is hoped that this study will result in a plan to help save the portions of this neighborhood that are worthy of preservation while at the same time encouraging reinvestment throughout the neighborhood. |
